Frequently Asked Questions:
~ "Could we do a meet-and-greet?"
Absolutely! A preview is required for all new families. This ensures that MoCoPup is a good match for everyone!
~ "What does MoCoPup require?"
- Preview
- Signed MoCoPup Boarding Agreement
- Current vaccination record, including: Bordatella, rabies, distemper, and canine influenza
- Drop Off and Pick Up Appointments (30min window appointments)
- Pup's own food and treats to avoid tummy upsets
~ "What is your address?"
We will send a reservation confirmation email that includes our address and directions. We are in Dickerson, MD, very near Poolesville, Potomac, Germantown, and Boyds. We enjoy spoiling each MoCoPup family, one stay at a time, so visits are by appointment only. Thank you!
~ "When can I drop off and pick up my pup?"
By appointment only, any time between 8:30am and 5:30pm. Please note: MoCoPup requires a 30min window for both drop off and pick up. Once these appointments are set, we will confirm your reservation on our MoCoPup calendar. These appointments are very important to help MoCoPup run smoothly and keep rates low.
~ "What should I bring for my pup's stay at MoCoPup?"
Please bring your pup's own food and treats to avoid tummy upsets. Although we can provide all, feel free to bring any personal items such as chewies, toys, blankets, beds, fitted harnesses, etc. We've noticed that our MoCoPups enjoy cuddling with an item that smells of home, like an old sweatshirt or pillow case. Calming and appreciated.
~ "What form of payment is accepted?"
Check, cash, or Venmo.
~ "Is a deposit required?"
As of now, MoCoPup does not typically require a reservation deposit. In high volume periods we may ask for a deposit. We rely on the Honor Code. Please keep in close contact if your plans should change. Give us as at least three weeks advance notice so that we can offer the space to a wait list family. Please review the Rates page for payment policy.
~ "How early should I book?"
It's never too early to book! Holidays and summer months fill early and fast. We recommend booking your pup's stay as early as is convenient for you.
~ "What vaccinations are required?"
MoCoPup pups must be up to date on all vaccinations, especially canine influenza, Bordatella, rabies, and distemper. It is the responsibility of the client to provide a current vaccination report from your vet's office. Don't wait until the last minute! Keep in mind that some vaccines take a couple of weeks to take effect, and boarding cannot occur until then.
~ "Is transportation offered?"
MoCoPup is happy to help with drop off and/or pick up. We calculate the transportation rate based on your location, time of day, and number of pups.
~ "Will my pup get to play with other MoCoPups?"
MoCoPup enjoys the many benefits of our B&B type environment. One of these is our close contact and knowledge of every individual pup and their family. We are always on the lookout for suitable play partners but being small limits our playdate options.
~ "Will my pup walk on- or off-lead?"
It takes time to build a relationship. Until we are certain your pup has excellent recall, all pups walk/hike on lead. Our ginormous fenced play area is always available to be off-leash and "get their dog out" with tons of fun!
~ "Do pups stay in your house?"
MoCoPup is housed in a large, fun, temperature-controlled space adjacent to our main home. There is plenty of room for pups to play with tug toys, kick back for a nice nap on the sofa, and spend a cozy day in their private comfy run.
~ "How large is the run?"
Each family's pup(s) enjoys their own run: a clean, airy, and comfortable 4x8 foot space. Depending on the size, number, and character of the family's pups, MoCoPup will recommend the best option.
~ "How much do the pups get out of their run?"
MoCoPup promises at least four walks/playtime sessions every day, rain or shine. This is dependent on age, breed, medical restrictions, etc. Above all, we stay entertained and work to ensure all pups' safety and happiness.
